What is the American Dream? According to James Truslow's volume, The Epic of America (ironically written in the 1930s), the American Dream is “that sleeping vision of a land in which life should exist better and richer and fuller with a view to everyone, with opportunity for each according to adroitness or achievement.” (Truslow). In the 20th hundred years, we have significantly warped that conceit to suit a more selfish pattern of person. Citizens base the American Dream put ~ something much more different then what it originally meant. Today, many Americans convinced to achieve the American Dream method to be rich and famous or be in actual possession of a successful business. People get caught up in this "American Dream", that they cease to care for the true meaning set by our Founding Fathers. Abraham Lincoln regular, "You can have anything you stand in need of - if you want it badly enough. You be able to be anything you want to exist , do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that brute passion with singleness of purpose.", agreeing through Mr. Truslow. Despite this, society became in the way that distorted when discrimination played a role. Obviously, the Founding Father's didn't take the time to come's problems into consideration when construction the ideal dream for Americans. They were unaware of the hardships the discriminated would stand over against, which made it hard to form the American dream more than fair a dream. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck shows the king of terrors of the American Dream and why it was unattainable by many.

The 1930’s was considered unit of the toughest times in the narrative of the United States. Americans felt crushed, saddened, and depressed. After the Wall Street crashed, the management became complete chaos and a renowned downfall after a already being in a steep hole, in result of the World War II.
